Nutrition for Glycogen Storage Disease - Baby Foods: Meats and Combination Foods

These instructions are for caregivers of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia patients who have glycogen storage disease (GSD).

Patient instructions:

  • Offer your baby a variety of foods from the lists below. Avoid any foods packaged or prepared with fruit, milk, sugar, tomato or sweet potato.

  • Remember to read the ingredient list on all foods to make sure the food is safe for your child. Learn more about which ingredients to avoid.

Meat and poultry: stage 1 and 2

Gerber baby foods

  • Chicken and gravy

  • Ham and ham gravy

  • Turkey and turkey gravy

  • Veal and Veal Gravy

Beech Nut baby foods

  • Beef and beef broth

  • Chicken and chicken broth

  • Turkey and turkey broth

Combination meals: stage 1 and 2

Gerber baby foods

  • Chicken noodle dinner

  • Squash, corn, chicken (organic)

  • Turkey rice dinner

  • Vegetable chicken dinner

  • Vegetable, turkey, barley (organic)

Beech Nut baby foods

  • Chicken and rice dinner

  • Chicken noodle dinner

  • Homestyle chicken dinner

  • Vegetables and broth

  • Vegetables and chicken

Vegetables and combination meals: stage 3

Gerber baby foods

  • Green beans with rice

  • Squash

  • Vegetable turkey dinner

  • Herbed chicken with pasta (organic)

Beech Nut baby foods

  • Green beans, corn and rice

  • Country vegetables and chicken

  • Tender chicken and stars
