Using QVAR RediHaler
Patient instructions:
Check your asthma action plan to see when to take your QVAR® RediHaler®. Check the dose counter; it shows how many doses are left in the inhaler. Call for a refill when the dose counter reaches 20. If you use your inhaler after the dose counter reaches zero, you may not receive the correct amount of medicine.
Do not use a spacer (chamber) with a Redihaler device. Follow the steps below to take the medicine.

Inhale (breathe in)
-
First, breathe out (exhale) fully through your mouth.
-
Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and close your lips around it so you form a good seal. Place your tongue under the inhaler so that it does not block the medicine. Do not cover the air vents at the top of the inhaler with your hand.
-
Breathe in deeply to deliver the dose of medicine. Remember: Hold the inhaler upright as you take your inhalation and do not cover the vents on top.
-
Remove the inhaler, hold your breath for 5 to 10 seconds, and then breathe out slowly away from the inhaler.

After taking your prescribed number of inhalations, rinse your mouth with water without swallowing. This helps reduce the risk of a fungal infection (thrush) in your mouth.
