Torticollis Exercises: Stomach Activities: Right

These instructions are for caregivers of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) patients with torticollis to stretch and strengthen their neck.

Patient instructions:

Reaching on stomach

  • Place your child on their stomach.

  • Place a toy above child's head to encourage them to push up onto elbows or straight arms.

  • Encourage your child to reach for the toy with either hand but encourage them to reach more to the right.

  • This will promote turning their head to the right and shifting their weight and head to the left.

  • Place your child on their stomach.

  • Position the toy to either side at hip level with a focus toward the right.

  • Your child will move their hands to pivot or turn on their stomach to reach for the toy.
