Using the Inhub Dry Powder Inhaler

Patient instructions:

Check your asthma action plan to see when to your Wixela® Inhub® inhaler. Check the dose counter; it shows how many doses are left in the inhaler. Call for a refill when the dose counter reaches 20. If you use your inhaler after the dose counter reaches zero, you may not receive the correct amount of medicine.

Do not use a chamber/spacer with your Inhub inhaler. Follow the steps below to take the medicine.

  1. Open 

    • Open the Inhub by holding it in one hand and using the other hand to pull down on the gray grip arrow.

  1. Push the yellow lever down

    • Hold your inhaler in the “up and down” position.

    • Push yellow lever down to the end of the purple arrows until you hear a click. The yellow lever will stay in this position until you take your medicine. Do not close your inhaler.

  1. Breath out (exhale)

    • Breathe out through your mouth and push as much air from your lungs as you can. Do not exhale into the inhaler mouthpiece.

  1. Breathe in

    • Put the mouthpiece in your mouth and close your lips tightly around it. Breathe in quickly and deeply through your mouth to deliver the medicine to your lungs.

    • Remove inhaler from mouth. Hold breath for 10 seconds. Breathe out fully.

    • Your Wixela Inhub inhaler delivers your dose of medicine as a very fine powder. You may not taste or feel it. Do not take an extra dose from the inhaler, even if you do not taste or feel the medicine.

  1. Close

    • Close your inhaler.

    • The dose counter will show you the number of doses left in your inhaler once you close it. The yellow lever will return to the starting position.

    • Your inhaler is now ready for the next dose.

  1. After taking your medicine, rinse your mouth with water without swallowing to help reduce the risk of a fungal infection (thrush) in your mouth.

Instructions for care and storage:

  • Do not wet or wash your Wixela Inhub. The inhaler contains a powder that must be kept dry at all times.

  • Do not take the inhaler apart.

  • Store at room temperature 68°F to 77°F. Avoid exposure to extreme heat, cold or humidity.
